Q. What does a membership cover the cost of? 

A. Our $125 monthly membership gives you access to unlimited classes and open fencing for the month. For other membership options see our “Dues and Fees” page. 

Q. I’ve never fenced before. Where should I start?  

A. You should start in one of our Introduction to Fencing classes! Fill out the form for the class you would like to take under the “classes” tab of our website. 

Q. I just finished the Introduction to Fencing class. What now? 

A. The next step is to enroll in a beginner classes. Go to the classes tab and choose a beginner class that works for you. After you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email and an invoice for the club membership fee. If you have questions about the different weapons we offer, please see our “Fencing Basics” tab. 

Q. Can I take classes for more than one blade? 

A. Yes! You can take multiple classes for as many as you like. 

Q. I have fenced before, but it was not with RFC. What should I do? 

A. Tell us about your prior experience and we can place you in the best class for your skill level. 

Q. Do I have to compete? 

A. No, many people fence for exercise and community. There is no pressure to compete if you do not want to. However, many of our fencers enjoy building skills and working towards being competitve.  Since each fencer is different, please ask your coach or club personnel for advice on navigating your fencing path.

Q. What do I do if I want to be competitive? 

A. Email in and schedule a consultation. We can put you on the track that best suits you. 

Q. Can I come tour the club and watch before I commit to a class? 

A. Sure! Email or call us and leave a message about touring and we will get back to you with all of the information you need. 

Q. What should I wear to an Introduction to Fencing class? 

A. You should wear athletic PANTS and a shirt that you feel comfortable moving around in. Jeans and other stiff clothing will give you issues while fencing. You will also need close-toed athletic shoes. Crocs and flip flops are not acceptable. 

Q. Do I need to buy gear for class? 

A. We provide gear for Introductory and Beginner classes. Our coaches and team members can guide you when you reach the level of needed personal equipment. 

Q. I am a parent/guardian,  do I have to stay with my fencer? 

A. No, you do not have to remain in the building during your fencers’ class(es). If you would like to watch them fence you may sit in any of our designated seating areas. 

Q. How old do I have to be to fence?  

A. You must be six years of age to fence.
